22 Nov Meet The Team: Anthony Scurfield
In this month’s Meet The Team series, we speak with Anthony Scurfield who is our Account Manager at LateRooms.com Business…
What made you want to get into the travel industry?
After working in the print sector for several years, I felt that I needed a change and to be in a sector that is always changing and progressing. I feel that the travel industry offers you a wide range of experiences and life skills which will only benefit me in my own career going forward.
When did you join LateRooms.com Business?
I joined LateRooms.com Business in August 2017 and when I first saw the vacancy, it really excited me. It was the chance to work in a department that’s progressing and at the forefront of a leading travel business. After several meetings with Graeme and his team, I also felt that the job role was not only a chance for me to showcase my own skills and experiences, but also to learn new skills and gain valuable experience in the travel industry. After over a year in the department, I haven’t looked back!
On a day to day basis, what does your job involve?
My main tasks are to communicate with all of my clients who book business accommodation with LateRooms.com… I’ll assist them with making bookings as well as helping them find the best accommodation to match their own specification. I’ll also help them reduce costs on business travel, amend bookings and cancel them. No matter how big or small the issue is, I believe by offering excellent customer service, it will only improve the relationship between LateRooms.com Business and our clients.
With the very good reporting tools we have here at LateRooms.com, I also monitor my customers booking levels which gives me the chance to make sure we are receiving bookings from our clients on the same levels of either last month, last quarter and last year.
I also get heavily involved with new projects within the team; I have recently just assisted in our new credit facility with Diners Club that has just been launched this month! I also get stuck in with the PR & Social Media side of the things, assisting our design team in the making of our new promotional video and the creation of recent articles that have been posted in different media outlets.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the challenges that occur and the different projects that are going on within the department. And of course, the people I get to work with.
What previous experience do you have that got you here today?
Before joining LateRooms.com Business, I worked in the printing industry, my main role was to look after a portfolio of clients and assist them with their printing needs. This could be from assisting with a company’s direct mail needs to assisting the with the creation of leaflets, magazines or business cards.
Where is the best place you’ve ever travelled to?
I would have to say Rome; the culture and food was simply incredible!
And where’s on the bucket-list?
What is the best advice you would give to someone wanting to join the travel industry?
Be eager to learn new skills and experiences, Enjoy the daily challenges and be prepared to grow with the company you want to work for.
